Swastika, Anti-Semitic Slur Found on Purdue’s Campus

Only two weeks after the University of Wisconsin in Madison made headlines after a student’s dorm was covered with swastikas and pictures of Adolf Hitler, now another Big Ten school reports yet another case of anti-Semitism.

A swastika and anti-Semitic slur were found on Purdue’s campus Monday, reports our sister station (WLFI).

The messages were written on a whiteboard outside of an office for the American Studies Program.

University officials believe it happened sometime over the weekend.

Students were disappointed to hear that a message like that was found on campus.

“My favorite part about Purdue is the inclusion and being around people that maybe you don’t necessarily spend time with in your hometown, wherever you’re from,” said Purdue junior Logan Miller. “That’s been one of the great parts for me, and knowing that people are doing things to maybe not make people feel welcome here is not what that’s about.”

Purdue senior Amy Barton agreed.

“It definitely makes me feel angry that there are still ignorant people on this campus. Maybe they did it to just get a reaction, and they don’t actually believe in displaying a swastika,” Barton said.
