Israeli Hasbara recorded a victory in the U.S. today (Thursday) as a law that forbids public institutions from maintaining ties with companies or organizations that boycott Israel passed in California. The pro-Israeli legislation was the result of an ongoing struggle led by the Israeli American Council (IAC) in recent years.
California is considered one of the strongholds of BDS supporters, who have a successful record in promoting BDS in the western American state, especially at prestigious universities. Only several years ago, the University of California, Berkley Senate decided to boycott Israel.
“The State of California has the sixth largest economy in the world and a unique global impact; that is why the historic decision has many implications,” explained the IAC's CEO Shoham Nicolet. “This is only the harbinger for the rise of the Israeli-American community as a politically influential player that works to strengthen Israel’s ties with the various states across the U.S.”
